When someone remarks on this piece of jewelry, you could reply: “Thanks! This beautiful bead was made by a glass artist from Santa Cruz, California. Her name is Alex Spinglaschell and she melts different colors of glass with a torch and then shapes them into beads.”
I was inspired to make this pendant by a similar piece I saw recently on the cover of a jewelry magazine I purchased. This is the larger of the two that I made. After doing the metal work, I added a dark patina, lightly buffing some of the high points but not much as I am really liking the oxidized look lately.
We like to show very large photos of our work so you can see the details, but because these enlarged photos can be misleading we also put the measurements in the item descriptions or show one photo with a size reference. Thanks!
Created with:
- Lampwork Glass Beads (20x17mm): Created by melting various colored glass in a torch and manipulating the molten glass around a metal rod then baking the bead in a kiln for a long-lasting, durable piece of art. Note: To assure the Lampwork in our creations is properly annealed and cleaned, we only buy lampwork from people we know.
- Sterling Silver (92.5%): Unless noted otherwise, all our silver components, beads, wire, and headpins are sterling (.925) or higher (fine silver .999).
The sterling silver necklace chain is about 18 inches. The pendant hangs just under four inches long.
Our one-of-a-kind designs are not repeated so once a jewelry piece is sold that design is gone forever.
Shipping Info: Insurance is free. California residents will be charged 9.75% sales tax.
