Sterling Silver Earrings of Peacock Feather Design with Blue Paua Shell Accent
When I admire the wonders of a sunset or the beauty of the moon, my soul expands. (Mahatma Gandhi)
... and peacocks. I have always admired the wonders of peacocks. Did you know that microscopic crystal-like structures that reflect different wavelengths of light give peacock feathers their brilliance?
I hand-fabricate these earrings by impressing a subtle peacock feather texture into annealed sterling silver sheet. Since each pair is made one at a time by hand, there will be slight variations from one pair to the next.
I then cut out the semi-square shape and bezel set a lovely little blue Paua shell stone (Māori Abalone) as accent.
These are deceptively lightweight earrings. The "square" is a but less than an inch across and about ¾ of an inch tall. The designs are only on the front. I added a patina to the silver to accentuate the design..
